Why did I choose a recumbent trike?
Main reasons:
- My weight: I weigh over 200 kg due to diabetes, a back injury, and low mobility. Ready-made bicycle models can't support my weight.
- Experience: I am an engineer with extensive experience and can create a reliable project on my own.
Why do I need it?
I need strong motivation to overcome back pain and increase my mobility. A recumbent trike solves these issues by providing comfortable movement and adequate exercise for weight loss.
Main challenges:
Ordering custom parts based on my drawings is difficult. Small orders are not of interest to suppliers, and prices are high. Therefore, I organized a crowdfunding campaign for the project. After the trike is built and tested, all details will be freely available: drawings, component links, etc.
My project addresses several problems:
- Excess weight: Movement is life.
- Back pain: Improvement in my condition.
- New experiences: Motivation for independent movement.
- Accessibility and communication: Opportunity for social interaction and new acquaintances.
- Benefit to others: The project can help people with similar issues.
- Travel: Incentive for long-distance trips.
- Sharing experience: Helping others create their own recumbent trikes and engage in charitable projects.
The project includes:
- Website: Communication, comments, project progress.
- Drawings: For ordering parts (DXF, STEP, assembly drawings).
- Links: To stores with components.
- Assembly and testing process: Detailed coverage.
Main design principles:
Strength, resistance to static and dynamic loads, high rigidity, and torsion resistance. The project should be as simple and efficient as possible, with the potential for upgrades (electric or solar power). It can also be used as a commercial platform for rental, delivery, etc.
